Challenge: Language Barrier During Technical Training

The training center in Ludwigsfelde is a place where quality standards meet practice. My task was to assist three groups of employees from the Jawor plant who came to Germany to learn the secrets of professional painting.

Scope: From Theory to the Paint Booth

The project involved comprehensive communication support during the qualification of employees in the fundamentals of painting. Divided into three groups, employees participated in an intensive, week-long introductory training course.

The assignment began with a welcome, introduction of the staff, and a tour of the training center (Mercedes-Benz Bildungszentrum).

A key element at the start was the precise translation of HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) rules applicable in the paint shop – in this environment, safety is the absolute priority.

Next, we presented the outline and objectives of the training. All communication was conducted via consecutive interpreting.

After a short theoretical introduction, the trainees quickly moved on to practical tasks: from preparatory work and sanding, through the application of paint layers, to final polishing.

Detailed Characteristics of Training Content

The training was characterized by high dynamics and fluid transitions between theory and practical exercises. The subject matter covered:

The specific working conditions must be emphasized: the noise of sanders, the clatter of tools, and the hiss of spray guns are everyday life in a paint shop. Added to this is work in the specific atmosphere of the paint mixing room, which requires great physical endurance and focus from the interpreter.

Final Result

The trainees showed enormous commitment, absorbing knowledge at an impressive pace. People who had never held a spray gun in their hands before were able to independently paint a fender by the second day.

This success is thanks to the outstanding instructors from Ludwigsfelde and smooth communication. A visit by the paint shop management from Jawor confirmed the high quality of both the training and the specialized translation.
